REPORT OF THE ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED DURING THE YEAR 2002-2003.

Sri Pingali Venkaiah Smaraka Samstha has been formed in the year 2002 with the basic objective of propagating the image, vision and ideals of Lt. Sri Pingali Venkaiah, the designer of our National Flag.

The inauguration was done on 09.06.2002 at Thyagaraja Ganasabha, Chikkadapalli, Hyderabad Hon. Minister of Urban Development Sri Bandaru Dattatreya attended the function as Chief Guest and inaugural address was given by Hon. Member of Rajya Sabha Dr. C. Narayana Reddy Padmasri Dr.Turlapati Kutumba Rao, Sri M.S. Raja lingam and Sri B. Rama Rao, Producer of the documentary film – “Pingali Venkaiah” were also attended the meeting.

After the inaugural address, the objectives of the trust was explained by Hon. Secretary Smt. K.H.S. Jagadamba and Grand children of Sri P. Venkaiah, Chi. Anvesh and Chi. Venkata Dasarath Raman were introduced and Memento was given to them by Dr. C. Narayana Reddy.
The following points were discussed and appealed to the Govt representatives for consideration
  • To help and rehabilitate the legal heirs and descendants of Sri. P. Venkaiah to lead a decent and respectful life.

  • To sanction site at Vijayawada to build Auditorium in memory of Sri. P. Venkaiah.

  • To sanction financial aid to install the statue of Sri Venkaiah in the premises of auditorium.

  • To release postal stamp in memory of Sri Venkaiah.

The meeting was concluded after screening the documentary film on Sri. Pingali Venkaiah.

On 2nd August 2002 at Rotary Children’s Auditorium, Vijayawada the 125th Birth Anniversary of our National Flag Creator Sri Pingali Venkaiah was celebrated.

His Excellency Dr. C. Rangarajan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh invited as Chief Guest and so many dignitaries attended the meeting. At his birth place Bhatlapenumerru Two types of competitions for school children were conducted. To inculcate the habit of remembering the great patriots in children singing competition was conducted to them on patriotic songs, Essay writing competitions were conducted for the high school children. During August 2002 as a Pilot Project the programme was conducted in three Mandals of Krishna District. I.e. The Birth place of Sri Venkaiah students from 60 schools participated and the prizes were distributed to the winners. Local political Leaders Dist. Collector and other honourable members participated and helped to conduct the programme.

During the year 2003, on 02.08.2003 126th Birthday celebrating was conducted at city central library, Ashoknagar, Hyderabad. Well known Social worker, Vice President of Redcross, A.P. Dr Saraswathi Rao was honoured by Pingali Venkaiah Charitable Trust Organizers. Rtd Chief Justice of A.P. Sri P.Chennakesav Reddy was the Chief Guest and well known writer Dr. Pothukuchi Sambashiva Rao Presided the meeting.


The Singing competitions and essay writing competitions were conducted for the school children covering another three Mandals in Krishna District.
